A benefit for Presbyterian Ear Institute
It is important to understand the devastating effects that hearing loss can have on a child’s life. Historically, deaf children achieve only an average of a fourth grade reading level; a mere 8% of deaf student graduate from college; and 64% of New Mexicans who are deaf or hard-of-hearing are unemployed.
At PEI, we can change these statistics by giving deaf children the ability to listen and speak. The ability to communicate with others reduces isolation and dependence on interpreters for interactions and allows deaf children to compete successfully with their hearing peers in mainstream schools and later in life.
We hope you will join us for a morning of fitness and fun as we raise money to support Tuition Assistance for families with children attending PEI’s School for Oral Deaf Education.
